Willow is looking for a Director of Finance to manage and control all financial operations and reporting activities. You will be responsible for the day-to-day duties of managing cashflows and vendors, as well as reporting for our fund, our investors, and for ourselves. We are looking for someone who enjoys making a difference, is passionate about what they do, and can anticipate and solve problems without being told to do so.

Willow is a real estate investing platform that allows anyone to build a custom portfolio of investment properties across Canada. People can buy, sell, and own portions of individual properties without the hassle of homeownership.


Responsibilities

  • Lead the financial reporting for all entities and investors
  • Oversee treasury operations
  • Monitor cash flow and working capital for the corporate group; review intercorporate management transactions
  • Perform financial analysis, financial reporting, and operational metrics tracking
  • Report on financial performance and prepare for regular leadership reviews
  • Analyze financial data and create financial models for decision support
  • Guide the budgeting and forecast process and evaluate the performance by comparing actual results with budget and forecast
  • Identify and drive process improvements, including the creation of standard and ad-hoc reports, tools, dashboards, and recommendations of actions for optimization
  • Oversee the compilation and consolidation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Coordinate on tax compliance and structuring with auditors
  • Coordinate and review debt compliance and correspond with new lenders as needed
  • Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Qualifying Examination through CSI required within 3 months of onboarding

Ideal qualifications

  • Canadian CPA designation, or international equivalent.
  • At least 8 years of progressive accounting & finance experience.
  • Industry experience is required. Training in public practice is highly preferred.
  • Experience with implementing FP&A processes, financial reporting processes, and/or consolidation systems is an asset.
  • Direct formal people management experience, with the ability to lead by example and effectively mentor, motivate, and coach a small team.
  • Mergers & Acquisitions accounting experience, including post-acquisition integration, is a significant asset.
