Position Overview
SBLR is looking for a full time, permanent Senior Accountant to join our growing team. The successful candidate will have at least 3 years of experience working in a professional services environment, preferably in public accounting. In this position, the candidate will work directly with Managers and Partners to provide accounting and tax support to clients, while delivering an exceptional level of client service. The candidate’s role will include tax compliance and the ability to identify accounting and tax issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform all work related to the preparation of compilation/white paper financial information and review engagement financial statements to completion
- Design appropriate procedures based on the scope, risk, materiality, and guidelines of the review engagement
- Conduct mandates under professional standards by using sound techniques and methodologies
- Training and supervising team members
- Complete corporate tax returns for various industry types (manufacturing, investment rental etc.)
- Preparation of T4, T5 and GST/HST returns
- Preparation of T3-Trust returns
- Prepare personal tax returns
- Identify accounting or tax issues and bringing them to the Manager/Partner’s attention
- Maintaining the confidentiality of client information
- Preparation of ad-hoc reports / documents as requested by clients or CRA

Qualifications
- Public accounting background with minimum 3 years of experience including review engagements
- Extensive knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Working knowledge of Caseware and Caseview
- Experience with TaxPrep/iFirm software
- Working knowledge of and experience with Quickbooks (Desktop/Online) and other Accounting Softwares
- Familiar with HST/Excise Tax rules and legislation and experience with HST/GST return preparation and filing
- Well versed in investment bookkeeping and related taxation matters
- Experience with owner/manager remuneration planning
